We believe the ‘River Valley’ is worth celebrating! it gives all ages year-round access to some of the best hiking, biking, fishing & exploring! Whether fishing in the waters off the Des Moines river, exploring along trails in Ledges State Park, enjoying music in our natural amphitheaters or exploring the art and cultural scene we set up in the middle of beautiful McHose Park, festival- goers will discover and celebrate the beauty of Boone Co. for themselves.

The Boone IA River Valley Festival Steering Committee is thrilled to announce it has received commitments from all bands for their LIVE Concert Event- including the headlining national, multi-platinum selling band- Night Ranger along with special guests and multi-platinum selling “rock gods” in their own right, SKID ROW and Great White. The concert event is now set for Sat., May 29, 2021.

FRIDAY – MAY 28

10AM- On the River- at the Arboretum (Iowa Arboretum, 1875 Peach Ave., Madrid) Story time and crafty snack! (Free/ All ages)

11AM- Walk and Talk (Iowa Arboretum, 1875 Peach Ave., Madrid) Tour the grounds with Horticulture Project Manager, Leah Worth. (Free/ All ages)

2PM- “Cliff Dwellers” Guided Hike (Ledges State Park; 1515 P Ave., Madrid) Stop by the pop up station along Canyon Drive (near the 4th water crossing) and join park naturalists in viewing our local population of Cliff Swallows. They are only here for a short 3 months so don’t miss the opportunity to view and learn about these fascinating birds! Binoculars will be provided. (Free/ All ages)

5PM- Official BRVF Kick Off Block Party (Boone Valley Brewery, Boone) Free music with Nashville based, high- energy indie Americana folk- rock artist- JON WORTHY! Plus, food trucks and our Annual Bags Tournament!

-ALSO- 6PM- Family {1-mile} Fun Run Meet on west side of the block party. Participants get 1-free Tropical Sno cone or 1-Free beer at the finish line! (All ages)

SATURDAY – MAY 29

8AM- Adventures in Outdoor Photography (Old ice skating shelter; Park Ave., Boone) Beginner to the camera or a po, come learn a few tips to make your pics Instagram- worth! (Free/ All ages)

8AM-12PM Youth {16 yrs old and younger} Fishing Derby (Don Williams Park, 610 H. Ave., Ogden) Meet at the Open air shelter by the Marina Boat Ramp, last registration at 11:30A. Join Boone County Conservation for fishing fun! Prizes and giveaways! Parent must accompany children. (Free/ All ages)

9AM- “Spring at Ledges” Guided Hike (Ledges State Park; 1515 P Ave., Madrid) Join park staff for a hike to explore the incredible “wildness” that Ledges has to offer in the Springtime. (Free/ All ages)

11AM- Outdoors at Ericson (Ericson Public Library, 702 Greene St., Boone) Come for story time and crafts inside the Ericson Courtyard (Free/ All ages)

2PM- Geocaching at Ledges & Guided Hike (Meet at the Upper Picnic Area/ near campground entrance, 1515 P Ave., Madrid) Join Ledges naturalists for a modern-day treasure hunt! (Free/ all ages)

We’re stoked to share Iowa’s own Saucy Jack will be kicking off our little shin-dig in May! The life of the party since 1998, Saucy Jack features Stacy Peterson on bass guitar and vocals, Jim Poffenberger on guitar and vocals, and Andy Shelly on drums. Saucy Jack covers all your favorite classic rock songs from the 70’s and 80’s and have had the opportunity to open the show for such great acts as REO, Chicago, Loverboy, The Guess Who, Marshall Tucker Band, Firehouse, Head East, Molly Hatchet, and many more! 10AM- Arts in the Park (Main Shelter, McHose Park, Boone) A community favorite! Join us for dozens of hand crafted art, craft & vintage items, the Market, plus free live music from 11-3pm, Kid’s Corner with free books from Ericson Library, face painting and more. Food trucks (Free entry/ All ages)

–ALSO— Garage Art Car Show (Main Shelter, McHose Park, Boone) Come see the best in the Midwest- and enjoy all free music, kids activities, the food options, and more since you’re right next to Arts in the Park! (Free entry/ All ages)

9PM- Night Hike! (Ledges State Park; 1515 P Ave., Madrid) Meet at the campground entrance amphitheater to see a different side of Ledges State Park. Find out what the night life of the park has to offer on this guided hike. All ages welcome, please bring flashlight, water, bug spray and dress appropriately for the weather conditions.
